関係代名詞　と　前置詞 例文

前回確認した「関係代名詞と前置詞」に関して、例文で感覚をつけましょう。

The man that (who) I spoke to was an Australian.

私が話しかけた男性はオーストラリア人でした。

The man to whom I spoke was an Australian.

That is the house that (which) he lives in.

あれは彼が住んでいる家です。

That is the house in which he lives.

Tom is the boy that (who) I often go to school with.

トムは私がよく一緒に学校へ行く仲間（少年）です。

Tom is the boy with whom I often go to school.

This is the park that (which) we sometimes play soccer in.

ここは私たちが時々サッカーをする公園です。

This is the park in which we sometimes play soccer.

I have many friends that (who) I usually play baseball with.

私には一緒に野球をする友達がたくさんいます。

I have many friends with whom I usually play baseball.

※thatは、「前置詞＋関係代名詞」では使用されない。

※whoは、whomという目的格の形があるが、whoのままで使われる場合が多い、ただし、「前置詞＋関係代名詞」の場合は、whomのみ可。
